Indie pop group Alvvays came together in Toronto and is now playing their music all over the world. They’ll stop by Austin to give a free show at Waterloo Records (600A North Lamar Blvd) before headlining at Red 7 later Friday night.
The band is made up of childhood friends Molly Rankin and Kerri MacLellan who began playing music in high school with Alec O’Hanley. A few years later the trio found Brian Murphy and Philip MacIssac, and they began making melodies.
Rankin is the daughter of John Morris Rankin, a member of the Canadian Country Music Award winning Rankin Family band.
Their free live performance will begin at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by Shiner. If you like what you hear, see their set with Absolutely Free at Red 7 (611 E. 7th St) beginning at 9.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
