Forget about the boring, cliche karaoke classics. Spider House and Karaoke Underground bring you a new breed of bad live singing with punk and indie rock classics.

The list of song choices includes over 800 selections from bands like the Pixies, Modest Mouse, Wilco, Belle & Sebastian, Joy Division, and other alternative artists. There’s no other karaoke event quite like this, with more screaming, barking, and yelping than belting out the big notes.

Occuring simultaneously in the Spider House Ballroom (2908 Fruth St) is a Nintendo 64 Mario Kart tournament. Sign up by tweeting @loveballsbus ahead of time. Then you’ll choose your character, navigate your favorite tracks, and avoid banana peels to advance in the tournament. There is a $1 entry fee for controller maintenance.

Karaoke begins at 10 p.m. in the ballroom, as does Mario Kart free play. The tournament begins at 10:30 p.m., but be sure to arrive by 10:15 to check in.
