Sunday’s Pick: Trail of Lights Grand Opening

One of Austin’s favorite holiday traditions, the Trail of Lights, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Celebrate this milestone on Sunday at Zilker Park during the Trail of Lights 50th Anniversary Grand Opening Celebration.

More than a million lights illuminate the 1.25 mile trail blazed through Zilker Park. But the Trail of Lights is more than just festive light displays; there are activity zones, performance stages, food stops, photo ops, and a 90-foot-tall ferris wheel.

Visit Armadillo Alley to grab a quick bite to eat, or head to the North Pole to share your holiday wish list with Santa and pick up a free book, courtesy of H-E-B. Highlights of Zilker Village this year include candy-making demonstrations and the return of the Yule Log.

Food from local vendors like Amy’s Ice Cream, Austin’s Pizza, Chi’Lantro BBQ, Hero’s Gyros, and Children of the Kettle Corn is spread out around the park. There will also be performances from Audic Empire and Courtney Santana.

Entry to the grand opening celebration is free!
