This week, the Paramount Theatre brings two classic 1940s films to its historic 1915 theater. One ticket is good for both black-and-white features when viewed back-to-back on the same day.
Kicking off the double feature event is ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ at 7 p.m. This Frank Capra film is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, and of course, a Christmas favorite. Jimmy Stewart stars as George Bailey, a good-hearted, troubled man who wonders whether the world would be a better place without him. He’s given a chance to find out, and the conclusion makes audiences weepy every time.
After the tears dry and viewers have a change to come and go, The Bishop’s Wife will begin at 9:25 p.m. Starring Cary Grant as Dudley, a man claiming to be a guardian angel sent to mend bishop David Niven’s church finances, this heartwarming film is an enchanting, wintry love story. The film was remade as The Preacher’s Wife in 1996 with Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston.
Tickets to the show are $12 online in advance, $7 for Film Fans, and $5 for children at the door.
