Thursday’s Pick: New Year’s Brunch

Nobody wants to start the year with a pile of dirty dishes, so put the cheap pancake mix down and head to Gourdough’s Public House (2700 S. Lamar) for the first brunch of 2015.

Gourdough’s is known for their donuts, so they feature their famous pastry in almost all of their brunch items. For example, the Petunia features a “piping hot donut” topped with pulled pork and a fried egg, all smothered in cream gravy. And this brunch won’t break the bank, as the most expensive item is priced at $9.

Gourdough’s will also serve complimentary black eyed peas and cabbage (with purchase), foods traditionally thought to bring good luck for the coming year.

If donuts aren’t your thing, we’ve identified some other restaurants serving brunch on this holiday. Brunch everywhere!

Once you’ve recovered from last night’s festivities, it’s time to get back out there for Free Week. All your favorite venues are hosting free live music shows from the 1st until the 11th. Find out what our critics have picked in the Music Source blog, or find a list of every show in our events database.
