The Austin Symphony, Austin’s oldest performing arts organization, has released its first commercial CD featuring debut recordings of American composer Edward Burlingame Hill.

The CD came about after retired University of Texas music librarian Karl Miller found Hill’s works, left undiscovered in the Harvard Music Library for more than 70 years, and brought them to the attention of the symphony’s music director Peter Bay.

Hill’s music takes a little from the Impressionist composers, the Gershwin era and the Romantic period and blends them into attractive tonal sounds.

5 p.m. Tuesday. Free. Waterloo Records, 600A N. Lamar Blvd. http://www.austinsymphony.org/events/edward-burlingame-hill-cd.
