“Simple Sundries,” a comedy about Austin’s booming real estate market, is a multi-layered performance that features shadow puppetry, radio dialogue and non-verbal physical comedy in the tradition of Lucille Ball and Charlie Chaplin. In “Simple Sundries,” intrepid entrepreneur Constance has recently moved to Austin in search of a more authentic lifestyle. Her plans to open an extravagant sundries shop on the eastside are thwarted by the former residents of her newly flipped bungalow: namely, a colony of monk parakeets.
Cate Blouke, an American-Statesman freelance arts critic, says the show is “full of entertaining pokes at the bastions of Austin culture.”
