Comic book fans and their local retailers have been waiting for this all year: Free Comic Book Day. The holiday, recognized internationally, celebrates the independent comic book specialty shops and their relationship with the community. Six local comic book stores will participate in the annual celebrations this year.

In addition to giving away up to three comics per customer, Dragon’s Lair will provide free popcorn and cotton candy, face painting and a bouncy castle for kids, cosplayers, Lego sculptures for your viewing pleasure, and a costume contest.

Titan Moon, which is celebrating its first Free Comic Book Day, will have door prizes, artists from CCP Comics doing free sketches and selling prints, and a charity raffle benefiting the Children’s Advocacy CEnter of Williamson Country. Oh, and free comics.
