This year’s festival will examine love, perseverance and intellectual growth under the theme “Black Lives Matter.”

The event will feature authors Kevin Cokley, Beverly Jenkins and Aaronetta Pierce. With keynote speaker MK Asante, bestselling author of “Buck.”

In addition, Texas NAACP president Gary Bledsoe will lead a panel discussion titled “Justice While Black: Helping African American Families Navigate and Survive the Criminal Justice System.”
