Thursday’s event pick: Teatro Vivo’s “Verano en Vivo”

Teatro Vivo s Verano en Vivo is a bilingual showcase of plays staged by Austin Latino theater stalwarts. The final weekend will feature works by Rupert Reyes.

The second weekend of this bilingual showcase, which features compelling new works staged by Austin Latino theater mainstays, will focus on two plays by Rupert Reyes, “Two Souls and a Promise” and “Crossing the Rio.”

The first play takes a look at reincarnation, Latino style, that explores what happens to us when we die. And the second play, about the billion-dollar fence between the U.S. and Mexico border, was inspired by the idea of writing a comedic bilingual farce.
