America was changed forever on Sept. 11, 2011. Every year, we spend the day remembering those who lost their lives and those tried to find and save lives. Here’s how you can pay your respects in Austin:

9-11 Memorial Ceremony. The Austin Firefighters Association will hold their annual memorial for those who lost their lives in New York, along with a remembrance of the Austin Firefighters who passed away in the last year. 7:30-8:30 a.m. Bufurd Tower, Cesar Chavez and Colorado Street.

Memorial Climb. The public is welcome to observe the Austin Firefighters who will climb up and down the fire tower stairs until it equals the number of floors of the World Trade Center. 9:30 a.m. AFD Pleasant Valley Training Tower, 517 S. Pleasant Valley Drive.

Mt. Bonnell Climb. Athletes and a few firefighters in gear will take 44 trips up the Mt. Bonnell steps to equal the equivalent of both Twin Towers. You can join them. 7 a.m. 3800 Mt Bonnell Road.

ESPADA Performance. The Emergency Services Pipes and Drum Association will perform a memorial concert in the Texas Capitol Rotunda. 12 p.m. 1100 Congress Ave.

Are we missing something? Let us know.
