Thursday’s event pick: Banger’s Oktoberfest

Dave Moser (@brisketandbagels) is a big fan of the housemade sausages at Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden, 79 Rainey St., including this bulgogi-inspired chicken sausage served with soy caramel sauce, kimchi, sriracha and jalapeños on a kolache bun.

No one does Oktoberfest like Banger’s. The Rainey Street beer bar is stretching the German-flavored fun into a long weekend of live music, beer, and games and activities. The celebration will kick off with a gun salute on Thursday, which will be followed by a free firkin of beer.

There will also be a stein hoist competition at 3 p.m. Saturday and a rousing round of bingo at 4 p.m. Sunday, plus music throughout all four days. Banger’s plans to have a menu of Oktoberfest specials, and you can bet that with more than 100 taps, some solid seasonal beers will be on hand, too.

Details: 5 p.m. Thursday to 5 p.m. Sunday. Free. 79 and 81 Rainey St. bangeraustin.com.
