Grammy Award-winning artist Ray Benson will be at BookPeople to talk about his new book, “Comin’ Right at Ya: How a Jewish Yankee Hippie Went Country, Or, the Often Outrageous History of Asleep at the Wheel.”

Benson, the co-founder of Asleep at the Wheel, shares the story of how he, a 6-foot-7-inch Jewish hippie from Philadelphia, started a Western swing band in 1970, when hippies and Western swing weren’t appealing to country fans.

Details: 7 p.m. Wednesday. BookPeople, 603 N. Lamar Blvd. 512-472-5050, bookpeople.com.
