Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is an Austin tradition true to the city’s musical and artistic roots. In 1975, musician Lucinda Williams pulled artists from the chilly 23rd Street art fair into the Armadillo World Headquarters to sell their Christmas treasures indoors and raise money for the vibrant live music institution. The bazaar has migrated over the years until moving to the Palmer Events Center in 2010, its current home.

This year, it will host more than 160 artists and feature two bars, food and live music from 30 musicians, including Ray Wylie Hubbard and Asleep at the Wheel. And for you last-minute shoppers: Handcrafted gifts will be on sale until 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Details: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily Tuesday-Dec. 24. Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road. Daily entrance fees are $8; kids 12 and younger are free. armadillobazaar.com.
