“Bill. W and Dr. Bob,” a critically acclaimed play from Samuel Shem and Janet Surrey, is the inspiring and often humorous story of the two men who pioneered Alcoholics Anonymous and their supportive wives, who founded Al-Anon. For the first time at the Long Center, the show is being performed in both English and Spanish in the hope of sparking dialogue about addiction to a wider audience.

Historically accurate, “Bill W. and Dr. Bob” takes place in 1929, when famous New York stockbroker Bill Wilson becomes a hopeless drunk and surgeon Dr. Bob Smith is well into 30 years of alcoholism.
